CYPHER Stamp Club
at the
2024 Rocky Mountain Stamp Show
The CYPHER Stamp Club had a Youth Booth at the show from May 24-26, 2024. We had many different hands-on activities available for children of all ages. Some of our popular activities include a stamp scavenger hunt, design-a-stamp, wildlife safari and Greetings from America and an exhibit trivia challenge. We introduced three new activities: Enchanted Stories, Wide World of Sports, and the Cypher Stamp Club Mystery Board. We had a computer station with a digital microscope so children could examine their stamps under high magnification. Our "treasure tubs" of stamps available for the children to search through. A number of topic specific binders were available for the children to select a limited number of stamps from. All materials and stamps at the CYPHER Youth Booth were free to children. On Sunday, May 26, we hosted a Scout Stamp Collecting Merit Badge Workshop, 6 scouts attended the event.
Additional pictures are found on our Media Library/Photo Albums page.

Stamp Detective Program
This is program loosely based upon the popular CSI television programs. The missions are self-paced so each child can progress as quickly as they desire. There are four stages, Apprentice, Junior, Intermediation and Senior Philatelist. A child must complete each mission in a stage before closing the case and advancing to the next stage. The Apprentice stage introduces the child to the basic tools of stamp collecting, how to identify different types of stamps, and an introduction to the care and preservation of a stamp collection. To close the case a child is presented with a simulated collecting environment, identify and remove the hazards, property sort and mount the stamps provided on album pages.

Boy Scout Stamp Collecting Merit Badge Workshop
The CYPHER Stamp Club hosted a Scout Merit Badge workshop on Sunday, May 26th, from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM, at the Rocky Mountain Stamp Show.
(A workshop is scheduled for the May 2025 RMSS - watch for details!)
This was a great introduction to the stamp collecting hobby. During the workshop, we went through each of the necessary requirements. Even with the time constraints the majority of the 14 scouts attending the workshop were able to complete all of the requirements for the Stamp Collecting merit badge.
Scouts were provided with free supplies, stock sheets, hinges, glassines and topical stamps to complete Requirement #8.
During the workshop the scouts were escorted through the dealers area and had the opportunity to select a few items for their personal collection. They visited The Depot printing display and were able to print their own souvenir of the Stamp Show. Finally, the scouts were taken through the exhibit area and show a few of the award winning exhibits on display.
Additional pictures of the workshop are found on our Media Library/Photo Album page.
If you are interested in attending a future Workshop we can schedule another workshop later in the year at the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library.
